The first edition of Gamescom Latam (formerly Big Festival), the largest industry event in Latin America, was a resounding success for Godot, thanks to the co-sponsorship of Anitya, Vertex Ludi, and W4 Games. This collaboration brought a dynamic and engaging booth to the event, drawing the attention of developers, students, and company representatives.

The booth was a hive of activity, with visitors eager to chat, play games, and take pictures with George Marques from the Godot Foundation, the main maintainer of the beloved GDScript language. The enthusiasm and interest in Godot were palpable, making it a highlight of the event.

One of the standout moments was the talk “Godot and its emerging ecosystem” on Thursday morning. Presented to a full audience, the talk offered an introduction to the engine for newcomers, and insights on the rapidly growing ecosystem around it. Anitya, Vertex Ludi, and W4 Games were highlighted as key contributors to this thriving community.

The pinnacle of the week was undoubtedly the Godot Mixer on Thursday evening, which saw over 260 signups.

Designed as a networking opportunity in a relaxed setting rather than just an after-party, the mixer was held in a spacious venue with ambient music. It succeeded beyond expectations, fostering connections among industry professionals who shared their work, hobbies, and even enjoyed some Brazilian chocolate-strawberry pizza.

A heartfelt thanks to the representatives of the foundation and sponsors and a special appreciation to the volunteers from the Brazilian Godot community, whose efforts were invaluable in staffing the booth and ensuring everything ran smoothly. We also extend our gratitude to everyone who attended and expressed their support and appreciation for Godot.
